BBIAB
I always thought as myself as quite a famous blogger (ego through the roof moment here), sure I spend a lot of time on Technorati seeing how well I am doing, and I know I've inspired a few people to start blogging. However, bar a couple of discussions down the pub and Max visiting the WMZ last summer, the blogging and real life worlds I habit keep themselves separate.

Until today.

You see, today in Bangor, North Wales, I was recognized. Seriously. It occurred in Gamestation. I was looking for Pro Evolution Soccer 3, the dogs bollocks of computer football games whereby I noticed one of the attendants desperate to try and catch my eye. I gave him the time of day.

"Hi....don't you write that website?"
"Errr......which site you talking about?"
"That one where you talked about your brother not being well known."
"Um...yeah, that's me. Hello."
"Cool. Well, you can talk about this on your site, if you want."
I thought about not bothering blogging about this, y'know, just to spite him. But there is a good reason why: closure.

Before some people update their blogrolls sans me, let me explain. Today has given me a good excuse to finish chapter one of this blog. In over two years I've gone from writing about what I've done each day to an audience of Sibley and my mum to being recognised in the street (sure, chance in a million, but I'm keeping it). So like every story, there has been a beginning, a middle and an end. I've reached the end. But there's a more practical reason for ending it today.

As some of you know already, I'm working in Liverpool for the summer. Due to the fact that I have no access to the internet except for at work, keeping something as personal to me as a blog on computers which I can't spend all day mooching over what to write would be tricky at best, and nigh on impossible at worst. Plus I respect my opportunity not to screw it up with anything more than checking emails at work. We will be getting broadband in the house eventually, but it'll be a few weeks at least.

So, this is it. End of chapter one of The Art of Rhysisms. Actually, it's more like that bit in The Fellowship of the Ring when Frodo goes down the river with Sam. It's an end, but it's also a beginning. In the last two years I've matured more than any previous years before. I've gone from being a childish, and slightly wierd high school student to a mature, funny and hardworking twenty year old. Hell, all because I won't be publishing doesn't mean I won't be writing, and I'll provide a digest of my 6 weeks when I return. I'm not saying 'goodbye', just 'see you later'. Bah, not good at these. I'll think I'll leave with the following words, curteosy of Frosty The Snowman, one of the great philosophers of the modern day (and also used by Mick Foley, when he left the WWE): -

"I'll wave goodbye,
but don't you cry,
For I shall be back again, someday...."

The Art of Rhysisms will return August 16th, 2004. Or when I can be arsed to fork out for library internet access, whichever's nearer.

Keep the faith.

Rhys
